Guitarist says experimental LP is 'not our usual thing'

Well in my mind, relevance means not constantly recycling the same tired pseudo-Beatles references and claiming them for yourselves "Love is a Magical Mystery?" How about "all you need is love" Noel? That's a new one.People seem so happy to be-moan the state of music but the past few years HAVE shown us a wealth of talent. I'm not a massive Arctic Monkeys fan but you'd be hard pressed to deny that Alex Turner writes lyrics that resonate directly with the lives of his audience rather than just sticking together a bunch of rhyming couplets regardless of sense or structure.Relevance to me is a band that is eager to step out of it's comfort zone and evolve be it Muse (who yes are basically the new "Queen" but at least they know it and do it with a bit of imagination) Radiohead or un-sung heroes Elbow who have been perfecting and refining their work with every album without the need to wave their dicks in the air in a desperate attempt to grab attention. What annoys me most about Oasis is the increasing disappointment. I was there when Supersonic was released. I was working at a Radio station and asked the acquisition guy if he had a promo copy of it I could have and he'd never heard of them. I loved Definitely Maybe and really felt like this was a band that belonged to me and had come to kick the arse of all the fucking depressing grunge bollocks and crap euro-techno.But ever since that time they've become more about yob-tactics, mindless cod-psychedelia and tabloid baiting than creating music you can really FEEL. Believe me there is a part of me that hopes for something that will blow me away with each impending album release, just like the old days, but it always lands with a dull wet thud of mediocrity and crassness.

"Love is a litany, a Magical Mystery"When will these morons go away?Actually, to be fair my interest was piqued when I heard there was a Chemical Brothers Remix of the b-side to the new single. The first official remix of an Oasis track as far as I know. Thought it could be interesting. Guess what? I know the Chems' aren't the most cutting of edge these days but even they can't drag Oasis dragging and screaming towards anything even approaching relevance.Whatever way you dress 'em up they're just grindingly average.
