Franz Ferdinand new album artwork unveiled – exclusive

See the cover to 'Tonight: Franz Ferdinand' on NME.COM

Franz Ferdinand have unveiled the album artwork for their forthcoming new album, 'Tonight: Franz Ferdinand' (pictured), exclusively to NME.COM.

The album, which will be the band's third, is set to be released on January 26.

Speaking about the artwork, bassist Paul Thomson told NME.COM, "We shot it just after midnight behind the Barrowlands Ballroom in Glasgow. We wanted to get a Weegee vibe – that famous New York crime scene photographer from the '40s and '50s."

For the full interview with the band see the new issue of NME, out now.

Meanwhile, it was announced yesterday (November 25) that the Scottish band will headline the London Heaven venue on January 20 for a Shockwaves NME Awards show. The band are also set to headline the Edinburgh Picture House on January 14.

Nah, Belle & Sebastian album covers usually have bookish girls staring aimlessly into the distance. I like it :)

Good idea releasing it in January when there's no competition. It could shift a couple more dozen copies.

If that's what passes for design these days, looks like me and my copy of Photoshop have a lucrative career ahead of us.

Dissappointed in the orange. Feels like this 3rd one is falling flat. Where's the audacious-ness & that hot-bed of creativity?
