He issues angry response at plans to release 'slapdash' DVD

Morrissey has disowned an upcoming live DVD - because he says it is being released without his permission.

'Live At The Hollywood Bowl' features a 22-song set of Smiths and solo songs, as previously reported by NME.COM.

However Morrissey has issued an angry statement to the True To You website, saying that Warner Music Entertainment, who are releasing the DVD, are doing so without his permission.

The full statement reads: "The slapdash release of 'Morrissey Live At The Hollywood Bowl' is done by Warner without any consultation to me whatsoever, and is in breach of their terms as laid out by themselves in an agreement made for the film between Warner and my ex-manager.

"Being Warner, predictably the sleeve art is appalling. It is the work of cash-hounds, and I urge people NOT to buy it. I am not signed to Warner, and no royalties from this DVD will come to me. Please spend your money elsewhere. Thank you, MORRISSEY."

The DVD is scheduled to be released on October 6.

Well, well! Dear Moz - I think you still own the copyright and publishing rights to your songs. If so, I can't see the problem of making this one the first ever free dvd download from morrissey.com or smth... The problem is, actually there will be some big royalties from this one straight to your bank account as long as songs are your'se and you know it better - as soon as someone says "no" there's bunch of others who goes straight for "yes".

"No royalties from the DVD will come to me" - I believe that seems to be your real problem here, Mr Morrissey? You didn't mind releasing a slapdash "Greatest Hits" with only two new songs, didn't you? Ok then, I will not buy the DVD despite being a lifelong Smiths and Morrissey fan. But for other reasons than you named.
