Band say the new record is a way off yet

Muse have warned fans not to expect a new album too soon, despite having previously revealed that they have plenty of songs written for it.

The band previously said they were heading to Italy to write new material. However, they have since said they are a long way off from actually beginning the recording process.

Bassist Chris Wolstenholme told BBC 6music, "There's about six or seven songs that we've started work on, but they're still very young.

"I don't think there's anything that we're ready to record yet.

"We just wanted to get started this year, to get the ball rolling a little bit rather than wait for a year doing nothing then get in the studio, and go, 'What do we do now?'.

"Sometimes you can suffer from having too much time off."

The band's last studio album, 'Black Holes And Revelations', was released in July 2006.

I know it'll be badass when it does come out.....and that means.....another 2 years of touring!

I agree with Gerbalism, it will be amazing whenever it comes out, and touring will be better, but they're not going to play in the UK until 2009....Plus they admitted that the gap between Absolution & BH&R was far too long....this gap will be longer!!

Take your time lads, I'm sure it will be worth it.

They can take as long as they want, as long as it's a good record. Far rather they spent time and effort on perfecting album five than come out with drivel

It is good. It takes time to produce a good record. Let's wait!

Thank God!! I just want to put it out there that i think Muse r the most over rated band in Britain at the moment. Boring songs, unoriginal dull riffs, rubbish cliched lyrics, horrible voice. Why the hell do ppl love em so much?

I can only guess that Modern Rubbish's sense of humour veers towards irony. Muse are loved so much precisely for their exciting songs, utterly original riffs and song structures, brilliant lyrics and the sheer competence of Matt Bellamy's voice. They can take their time with this album; I already have 49 original songs of theirs on my ipod.

Modern Rubbish - I think you were talking about Oasis. Either that or you need to seek help. You don't know WTF you're on about pal.

Modern rubbish is wrong when they say that Muse are the most over rated band in the world, I think Muse are a tad under rated. But it takes time to make amazing songs, thats how Black Holes & Revelations was a big change from their first stuff in their 1999, Showbiz album. Both amazing albums still.
