Bobby Gillespie insists NME Rock 'N' Roll Riot tour will live up to its name

Primal Scream Bobby Gillespie frontman has said he hopes the forthcoming NME Rock 'N' Roll Riot Tour will be among the best gigs the band have played so far.

However the singer has admitted that he hopes it won't be as a literal "riot" like some of the shows when he drummed with his first band The Jesus And Mary Chain.

"The audience were always pulling the PAs and trying to storm the stage," he recalled of those shows. "Total fucking carnage but great fun though."

For the tour, which kicks off in November, Gillespie insists that it will Primal Scream who will be causing the carnage – metaphorically speaking of course.

"Right now we're playing better than ever," he declared. "You know, the spirit in the band is great and we're having a great time, we're having a ball."

Primal Scream will play the following dates:

Oxford Academy (November 20)
Cardiff University (21)
Bristol Academy (23)
Southampton Guildhall (24)
Reading Hexagon (25)
Nottingham, Rock City (27)
London Hammersmith Apollo (28)
Norwich UEA (30)
Sheffield Academy (December 1)
Brighton Dome (2)
Birmingham Academy (4)
Cambridge Corn Exchange (5)
Leeds Academy (8)
Newcastle Academy (9)
