Band finish 'Accelerate' jaunt with hit-laden set

REM completed their 'Accelerate' world tour with a hit-laden show in Mexico City last night (November 15).

The band, who have been on the road since March promoting their 14th studio album, played a 26-song set at the Auditorio Nacional in the city.

Six tracks were played from the current album, including regular set opener 'Living Well Is The Best Revenge' and the singles 'Man-Sized Wreath', 'Hollow Man' and 'Supernatural Superserious'.

The rest of the set featured classics including 'What's The Frequency, Kenneth?', 'Drive', 'Losing My Religion' and 'Everybody Hurts', which the band had left out of their sets until they reached South America in mid-October.

The encore included a version of 'I Believe' from the 1986 album 'Lifes Rich Pageant', which REM had only played once before on the tour – when the band, long-term Democrat supporters, received the news at their November 4 show in Chile that Barack Obama had been elected the new president of the United States.

REM singer Michael Stipe had told NME.COM on the band's summer jaunt through Europe that the group had been working up new songs at soundchecks – however, they did not perform any of them on the tour – something they have been known to do previously.

REM played:

'Living Well Is The Best Revenge'
'I Took Your Name'
'What's The Frequency, Kenneth?'
'Fall On Me'
'Drive'
'Man-Sized Wreath'
'Ignoreland'
'Disturbance At The Heron House'
'Hollow Man'
'Imitation Of Life'
'The Great Beyond'
'Electrolite'
'Everybody Hurts'
'The One I Love'
'Find The River'
'Let Me In'
'Bad Day'
'Horse To Water'
'Orange Crush'
'It's The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)'
'Supernatural Superserious'
'Losing My Religion'
'Country Feedback'
'I Believe'
'Life And How To Live It'
'Man On The Moon'
