Frontman will play live on Monday (August 25)

The Verve's Richard Ashcroft will play a solo show at the Last Days Of Summer festival in Northampton on Monday (August 25) – the day The Verve's new album, 'Forth', is set to be released.

The gig will come just over a week after The Verve closed V Festival 2008 with a headline show.

Richard Ashcroft recently declared that he would continue his solo work despite his band reforming.

The Verve headlined the T In The Park festival last month (July 11) and the Glastonbury festival on June 29.

Supergrass, Black Kids and Young Knives are among the other acts set to perform at the festival.

Since "theverve.tv" isn't updated, I have no idea if this was scheduled as a Verve show or an Ashcroft solo gig to begin with. I can only hope that the gig is poor enough in comparison to The Verve's recent outings that it teaches him to keep to his band.

What's so wrong with MORE ASHCROFT? The Verve is beyond amazing and his solo stuff is incredible too. I have seen both live several times and it was just as euphoric to see Mr. Ashcroft solo as it was to be front row at the Verve. Fans should just enjoy the art of music and appreciate Richard Ashcroft for all that he is. A profound poet, a brilliant singer, and good musician. The Verve are epically magical as a group and there is no one better than them...but I say "bring it on" and don't ever stop making music Richard....I'd go anywhere to see you sing another song in whatever format you want.
