The Verve: 'We're not splitting up'
The Verve, Glasgow Academy (November 2). Ashcroft said little between songs, other than saying it was good to be back in Glasgow. When he took the stage, however, he strode to the mic and shouted 'this is music!', before launching into the track of the same name. Pic: Andy Willsher
Band say they're staying together despite spat rumours
The Verve's Simon Jones has stated that the band are not set to split up again, despite rumours of rifts between the band members.
It was rumoured that The Verve were set to cancel their V Festival headline slot last month after a spat, although they continued and played a well-received set.
Bassist Jones has since told the Daily Star that the band have no plans to call it a day yet.
"I don't think any of us would be that careless [to split up] again," he said. "If we have a disagreement, we'll work through it. It won't be, 'Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you, fuck you'.
"I'm not going to lie and say that every thing's all of a sudden easy in this band. We still do have our disagreements about things but we're a but more mature and better able to deal with it."
