The Verve: 'We're not splitting up'

Band say they're staying together despite spat rumours

The Verve's Simon Jones has stated that the band are not set to split up again, despite rumours of rifts between the band members.

It was rumoured that The Verve were set to cancel their V Festival headline slot last month after a spat, although they continued and played a well-received set.

Bassist Jones has since told the Daily Star that the band have no plans to call it a day yet.

"I don't think any of us would be that careless [to split up] again," he said. "If we have a disagreement, we'll work through it. It won't be, 'Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you, fuck you'.

"I'm not going to lie and say that every thing's all of a sudden easy in this band. We still do have our disagreements about things but we're a but more mature and better able to deal with it."

awwwwww shit! i was kinda hoping that they were going to split up again......their last single , the one about shoes from china, you know the one...sounded rather like a simple minds b- side from 1985 ( i would imagine) ...possibly involving paracetemol and cola, not E and coke

The best British band of the 90's shouldn't split up! Not again! Good to hear they've matured to the point where a disagreement doesn't lead to a break-up. The last album wasn't as good as Urban Hymns, but that's a tall order trying to repeat that.

suprise suprise hness has another bullshit comment to make.. LIVE they were brilliant the album.. i personally think was brilliant.. but i can't help but think that Nick mcabe is still very bitter that Richard could and hopefully again do it all on his own...

Suprise Suprise... hness has another ballbag comment to make.. I personally think that they did have unfinished business and to be fair..live they were f**king brilliant and the album is superb.. ok there are a couple of weaker tracks but compared to the rest of the dog shite out there at the moment, it just goes to show the oldies can still cut it... But i reckon Nick macabe is still a very bitter and twisted man and really resents the fact that Richard really doesn't need the rest of them to make brilliant music.. The verve still a great band..... but does Ashcroft need them......i think not..

The fact that they have a new record out with no tour plans seems to speak volumes.
