Guitarist distances himself from an advert that features his song

Jack White has distanced himself from a new TV advert for Coca Cola which uses his new James Bond song, 'Another Way To Die'.

The song, a duet with Alicia Keys, will appear as the theme song for the forthcoming Bond film, 'Quantum Of Solace'.

Jack White's song is soundtracking an advert for the drink Coke Zero, which Coca Cola have re-branded Coke Zero Zero 7 to tie in with the film.

However, White's management have issued a statement distancing The White Stripes and Raconteurs man from the advert, claiming that it was not his decision to license the song for use in the promo.

"Jack White was commissioned by Sony Pictures to write a theme song for the James Bond film 'Quantum Of Solace', not for Coca Cola," read the statement. "Any other use of the song is based on decisions made by others, not by Jack White.

"We are disappointed that you first heard the song in a co-promotion for Coke Zero, rather than in its entirety."

what did he expect, that he would be performing this song in front of Renee Zellwegger at the Oscars?

This is typical of Coke. I seem to recall them trying to use Sunrise by Pulp in one of their adverts, and when the band said that they weren't interested because it would go against the whole point of the song, coke decided to just rip it off with a similar sounding track!

Uh, what's his problem? He's been on their payroll before; and it's not as if he gives a shit about artistic integrity having written the damn song for big budget Hollywood flick that's already chock full of product placement.Methinks the man doth protest too much.

Of course Jack White must be gutted by the use of his music to sell Coke. He wouldn't want to seem like he's selling out to a soft drinks company, would he...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9zgT3WzTVA

Wow...talk about people missing the entire point. He hasn't said he wouldn't have wanted it used at all. It's just that he'd have rather have had us hear the track first as part of the film, because that's what he wrote it for.

I wouldn't be surprised, aaron24wood. Most people who visit the NME site can't read properly anyway
