You Don’t Know What Love Is (You Just Do As You’re Told)

It seems everyone’s second-favourite member of The White Stripes thinks journalists are lazy. “Even in the age of Google, they don’t do any work to get the facts right. Any time I pick up a music magazine, I assume 90 per cent of it is incorrect,” Jake White told Interview magazine. Anyway, ‘You Don’t Understand What Love Is (You Do What As You’re Told)’ is a song in which Jake narrates the tale of a cuttlefish being used as a doorstop by EMI, before a chance meeting with Linda Perry lands it a deal to sing the theme to the Beijing Olympics.
